Water supply in Canada

According to Statistics Canada, renewable water resources have been dropping in southern Canada at the annual rate of 1.4 million Olympic-sized swimming pools-- which amounts to 8% between1971 and 2004
The Pacific and Atlantic regions have largest freshwater yield (from precipitation, meltwater), while prairies have the least--- less than Australia, even.
Only about 9% of freshwater went to residential use; other 90% went to feed economic activity
The thermal-electric power generation industry withdraws the most water, followed by manufacturing.
