Water supplies at risk

Freshwater supplies are at risk across both developing and developed countries.  For example, water pollution and runoff from agriculture are endangering the biodiversity of rivers.  
Wealthy countries tend to treat the symptoms of water pollution with highly technical solutions instead of taking actions to protect rivers from being degraded in the first place. 
 As shown in the maps, some correlation exists between biodiversity threat and threat to water security
